The Along the Shores Fingerless Mitts pattern pays homage to the most prominent feather that North Carolina has and Montana doesn’t: an oceanfront view! Therefore, it was a given that my North Carolina collection had to have a design related to the beach!
I love everything about the beach – the sand in my toes, the rhythm of the waves, and the calming effect of it all. To represent the beach scene, this pattern includes a ripple wave section, a sand section, and an optional herringbone section.
This pattern is worked bottom up. The sizes included range from a 7” to 9” (18 to 23 cm) hand circumference. Instructions are provided for adjusting the length. Note that, in the sizing portion of the pattern, the length dimension given is the total mitten length. The cuff length of (2, 2.25, 2.25) (2.5, 2.5) in / (5, 5.75, 5.75) (6.25, 6.25) cm is included in the total mitten length.
The pattern also includes an optional herringbone cuff instead of a ribbed cuff. Work the pattern twice to have a pair of fingerless mitts; the mitten instructions can be worn on either hand.
This pattern includes written instructions and charted instructions.
