there are 3 versions of this shawl. A single color version, a 3 color fade, and a 5 color fade.
a total of approx 1,030 yds will be needed to complete this shawl.
3 color fade will need 3 full skeins (at least 430 yds/ skein), with extra yarn left over in each skein when completed.
5 color fade will use 2 (two) 5 color mini-skein sets that have at least 83 yds per color in each mini-skein, with an additional skein of yarn to go with your final (5th) color used. -or- 5 skeins (at least 430 yds) in colors of your choosing. Full skeins will have some leftover yarn, mini skeins:
color 1: one full mini-skein left over
color 2: most of second mini-skein left over
colors 3-4: a small amount of yarn left over
color 5: both mini-skeins used entirely, leftover yarn from the full skein.
The Celtic Coast Shawl was created because I wanted to keep the knitter’s interest from start to finish! I wanted to make sure there were different textures throughout, so this pattern has been broken down into 4 main sections:
Seed Stitch
Chevron
Seed Stitch
Lattice
There are double garter borders between each section and cabling along the outer edges and down the spine. The shawl is finished off with a nice, rolled, I-cord bind-off.
There is a large garter-tab cast-on that has a final stitch count of 37.
You will need to have at least 4 stitch markers and 1 cable needle.
There are links to YouTube videos and tutorials for any require skill needed to complete this project. Even though this is for a more advanced knitters, I want to make sure that I had the resources available for anyone wanting to learn something new!
The pattern can be made with a single solid color throughout, or you can use the instructions for the 3 color OR 5 color fade options.
