This seamless mosaic cowl was insipred by the baths of Maria de Padilla at the Real Alcazar of Seville Spain. It’s a quick relaxing knit with lots of pattern repeats. I’m still waiting on good pictures of this one -- my hubby is my photographer and we tend to procrastinate on photos…
Note:
Test knit will be conducted in my Ravelry Group.
Sizes
Width: 13” (33 cm) Height: 8.5” (22 cm) The width and height of the cowl are easily adjustable and explained in pattern.
Yarn:
Singles by Asylum Fibers (100% SW Merino, Single Ply, Fingering Weight, 400 yds 366 m, 100 g 3.5 oz) One skein each in:
- MC: Trickery (approximately 240 yds 220 m 60 g 2.1 oz needed)
- CC: Worn Out (approximately 60 yds 55 m 15 g .5 oz needed)
Or similar weight yarn to achieve gauge
Needles:
Two sets of US4 (3.5 mm) or size to obtain gauge (the second set is used when grafting the two sides together, you can use the larger needle for this purpose if you don’t have a second set) and US5 (3.75 mm) long straight needles at least 21” (53 cm) long.
Notions:
Crochet hook (for provisional cast on)
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers (8)
Waste Yarn
Gauge:
25 stitches and 40 rows = 4” /10 cm in Stockinette Stitch. Exact gauge is not critical, create a fabric that you like -- just know this will affect size of cowl and yarn requirements.
Techniques Required:
Provisional cast-on, knit stitch, basic increases/decreases, mosaic knitting, kitchener bind off.
Additional Notes:
The pattern is written out, the colorwork is only charted. Pattern has been professionally tech edited by Emily Lipa.
TESTER SELECTION:
I’m looking for at least three testers.
TEST TIMELINE:
Testing call posted: December 6, 2019.
Pattern will be sent via dropbox link to Ravelry DM NLT: December 6, 2019. Pattern is currently in final edits with tech editor.
Test deadline: February 1, 2020 (deadline is flexible -- I’m making this a longer test knit because the holidays can be such a rush for makers).
EXPECTATIONS:
To successfully complete this test knit, I ask that you:
Track the yardage you use
Let me know any time you have doubt about something in the pattern, you find a mistake (actual or suspected), an instruction seems unclear, etc. If you are wondering about it, I am sure other knitters are too!
Finish your project by the deadline noted above, including blocking and photographing.
Create and complete a project page (including gauge, needles, yarn used, and photos of the finished piece) and link it to the pattern page with the pattern is released. (I’ll let you know in this thread once it is released)
Bonus: If you are willing to share photos on social media (both in progress and of your FO), you would be my hero!
