The On the Farm Fingerless Mittens pattern is one of five patterns in the My Forever Home Collection, a collection of DK weight patterns relating to my home state, Montana. This pattern specifically references the millions of acres of farmland covering the state. The colorwork in the mitten represents the rows of crops in the farmer’s fields, which I further explain in the pattern.
This pattern is worked bottom up in the round. The sizes included range from a 7” to 9” (18.5 to 23 cm) hand circumference. Instructions are provided for adjusting the length. Note that, in the sizing portion of the pattern, the length dimension given is the total mitten length. The cuff length of (2, 2.5, 2.5) (2.5, 2.5) in / (5, 6, 6) (6.5, 6.5) cm is included in the total mitten length.
Work the pattern twice to have a pair of fingerless mittens; the mittens can be worn on either hand. The sample shown is worked using the S size, but worked with a longer length, because the model has a longer hand length than typical for the S size.
This pattern includes both written and charted instructions.
