I'm looking for test knitters for secret colorwork mittens in two colors. You will need to complete only one mitten by the deadline!
The pattern uses the following techniques: working small circumferences in the round, ability to work stranded colorwork from a chart, grafting, and whip stitch. The pattern requires the ability for managing floats in colorwork; Ladderback Jacquard is recommended but not essential.
The pattern is delivered in clues. After completing each clue, email me a photo of your mitten so far and I'll you the next piece of the pattern. To access the pattern you need a Gmail account.
When you apply:
➤ let me know which size you'd like to test knit
➤ provide me with a link to your past work (e.g., Ravelry projects, Instagram feed, blog)
Applications with either of these missing will not be considered.
SIZES
➤ S [M, L]
➤ 66 [70, 74] sts
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
➤ Palm circumference: approx. 21.5 [22.5, 24] cm / 8½ [9, 9½]”
➤ Length from top to wrist: approx. 25.5 cm / 10”
MATERIALS
Yarn
(Light) fingering-weight yarn, 2 colors
➤ Main color (MC): 1 skein
➤ Contrasting color (CC): 1 skein
Choose two colors with a good amount of contrast between them; solid or semi-solid yarns are ideal.
The motifs make more sense with a light MC and dark CC. The colors may be swapped but this creates a film negative effect.
Needles
➤ 2.25 mm / US #1 DPNs or circular needle(s) for working small circumferences in the round (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Notions
➤ Yarn guide or Norwegian knitting thimble (optional)
➤ 4 stitch markers, 2 for each mitten
➤ Stitch holder (for example, waste yarn or safety pin) for thumb stitches
➤ Darning needle
GAUGE
31 sts × 40 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stranded stockinette, blocked
