Yarn Requirements2 skeins of Fingering Weight yarn; One Main Color, one Contrast Color. MC 360 yards, CC 437 yards
Sizes AvailableOption to increase the depth of the shawl from 14".
Skills RequiredEdging - Added Afterwards
This is a side-to-side crescent shawl. This is a quick knit. Stripes worked while carrying your yarn so only ends to weave in are at cast on and bind off. A small section of mosaic knitting, created with slipped stitches, so you only have one color to work with on each row. Once finished add some fringe, and done!
- You can make it with the 14” depth, or you can increase the depth by following the instructions, however, that will change your yardage.
- You can use any weight of yarn, it does not have to be Fingering, however, that will change your yardage.
One skein of C1, and one skein of C2. Sample used fingering weight, but you can use your preferred yarn weight.
C1: 1 skein of Sapphires-n-Purls Merino/Yak/Silk (378 yds/115 grams) Undyed/Natural. Sample used 46 grams.
C2: 1 skein of Handmade By Zan Super Sock 85% Merino/ 15% Nylon(437 yards/100 grams) in the Fabulous Pink colorway. Sample used 90 grams, including fringe.
Size US 6(4.00 mm) 30” circular or long enough to hold all stitches. If using a heavier than fingering weight yarn, be sure to go up 1-2 sizes than recommended for your yarn weight, to give your shawl the airy effect.
4” = 24 sts/ 29 rows blocked stockinette stitch
65” wingspan length/ 14” deep at center spine
1 Tapestry needle to weave in ends, crochet hook for fringe attachment.
Things you should know
This pattern will be sent one section at a time, you will receive each section once you have messaged me with a picture of your progress. This will be run on Ravelry in this thread: https://www.ravelry.com/discuss/handmade-by-zan/3913565/1-25
Written only, no charts.
Specific Goals for this test:
To make sure the yardage requirements are correct
To test other yarns with this pattern
To catch any errors
To have already completed projects linked to the pattern upon release
Deadline: May 22nd. I am a bit flexible with the deadline.
1)Testers must not make any adjustments to the pattern without checking with me first.
2) You must create a Ravelry project page with photos and link it to the final published pattern.
3) you must have it finished by the due date, unless other arrangements are made with me.
4) check in with me once a week on your progress, either here in this thread, or by messaging me.
5) Feel free to share pictures on social media using hashtag #handmadebyzandesigns
All those who finish by the deadline, with a linked up Ravelry project page, a filled in tester survey (below) and photos that may be shared on social media will receive the following: A copy of the finished pattern gifted to you via Ravelry upon pattern release, once final editing is completed and the pattern is posted, in addition, one of my other pattern designs gifted to you, and my thanks for a job well done.
If you’re still interested in testing, comment with the yarn you’d like to use with a photo. I will be checking your ravelry project pages to see if you have open or incomplete tests, and to see the quality of your photos (they don’t have to be professional - just clear and with the ability to tell what the project is
