I was first introduced to crochet when I was in 6th grade and I have been obsessed with it ever since. I started with crocheting little hats as gifts for my friends, then made bottle covers and sold them when I was in high school. After I started my higher education I had very little to no time to spend on crocheting or knitting. Now that I have some more time to spare between my work as a document editor, I am trying to improve on my skill. Most of my crochet projects are based on video tutorials and I would say my skill level is intermediate.
I first started knitting back in 2013-ish and been practicing the basics since then. I did make a scarf and a pair of fingerless mittens by following video tutorials. I still use the mittens and they are pretty perfect. But I find knitting more challenging than crochet.
One of the main reasons I want to become a pattern tester is to get the opportunity to practice more of the skill and the art of following a pattern to the end. The commitment I have for another person to deliver the finished product certainly holds me accountable. I would eventually want to create my own website and store. Although I already have a store, I do not feel very confident about what I make. While making a little money on the side, I would love to sharpen my skill and confidence by becoming a pattern tester. It would also let me get to know other crocheter role models and a community, which can only be inspiring for someone like me!
