I favor crochet. I learned to crochet from my mom and a few years later I learned to knit from a book. I think that has something to do with it. I do like knitting with my machine, and I manage the occasional hand-knit project here and there, but there's just something about crochet that excites me. I feel like an artist painting on canvas; even when I'm using someone else's pattern and putting my own spin on it, it feels religious. I feel purpose, I know what I am doing here. I love the work: whether it's all coming from inside my head or from someone else's words, whether I have to count every single stitch so it forms the correct shape or it's so tedious I don't even have to count. I love it all.
