I'm a lifelong crafter, but have come to yarn crafting somewhat later after a lifetime of sewing. I learned to sew from my mother as a child, but she never managed to teach me to knit or crochet despite many attempts. I suspect I just wasn't interested enough at the time. I picked up quilting after college, and that kept me busy for quite a few years, then one day I decided to learn to knit, so I picked up a round loom. That was pretty easy, so I looked up some videos on knitting with needles, and away I went, and haven't looked back! Thanks, youtube!
Yarn dyeing is my latest obsession. I have to try to keep it in check so I don't dye too much more than I can knit. TRY.
I like to knit sweaters, socks, shawls, stuffed animals, washcloths, hats, scarfs - a wide range of projects. I like wool and wool blends, cottons and blends, and won't say no to a nice acrylic. I haven't tried a lot of other fiber types, but am up for it.
When I'm not knitting, I might be reading, quilting, embroidering (hand), watching ice hockey, or traveling with my mother. We live on the east coast of the U.S. and my sisters live in the western states, so we travel to see them at least once a year. We road trip to visit other friends occasionally, too, stopping to visit quilt and yarn shops along the way.
