I ended up on permanent disability in October 2010 due to several severe lower back problems and because the risk of ending up paralyzed from the waist down is so high no surgeon will operate. So to keep the pain manageable I need to spend all day reclined or lying down. There’s only so much you can do reclining so in January 2013 I decided to try knitting and here I am. I love trying new techniques and patterns. Most days I spend quite a bit of time knitting but I’m not a fast knitter, especially when testing as I’m also checking the pattern for any problems. I like knitting most things but I don’t have any babies to knit for at the moment so any garments would be for adults. I’ve made pullovers, both seamed and in the round, sweaters, seamed, top down and bottom up, scarves, cowls, both seamed and in the round, hats, mitts and fingerless mitts, afghans, shawls and a skirt for a toddler. I’ve also done felted mitts, oven mitts, and slippers with a heel flap and gusset construction. I’ve test knit both on Ravelry and now Yarnpond and have always finished tests on time, plus I take lots of pictures and measurements. I love reading. I also loved cooking and baking but can’t do it any more as the pain builds too fast to finish anything.
